Roy
Franklin Broyhill
son of George Franklin Broyhill
1919- |
Roy was born in Sioux City, Iowa on
June 20, 1919. He graduated from Dakota City High School in 1936
and from the University of Nebraska with a B.B.A in 1940, a member of Beta Theta
Pi fraternity. He worked for a short time with Montgomery-Ward,
then entered the army. During 1940 and 1941, he was assigned to
the 110th Quartermaster Regiment; 35th Division; 2nd Army. On Jan.
30, 1943, he married Arline W. Stewart, who was born in Sholes, Neb,
Feb. 2, 1921. He was chief accountant for the Army Exchange
Service in Sioux City, then worked with a printing and publishing
company.
In 1976, he was a director of Great Western
Casualty Company, a member of the local school board, and the Republican
State Central committee, a trustee of the University of Nebraska, a
Mason and a Kiwanian. From 1951 to 1953, he was mayor of Dakota
City. He was also president of the Broyhill Company, a
manufacturer of agricultural and industrial equipment. He was also
in the newspaper and insurance business.
Roy provided the bulk of the information on the
family of James Broyhill Jr. and his son William Irving Broyhill,
including virtually all the dates and places. |

Lynn was killed in an automobile accident on Sept. 8, 1966.
Craig graduated from the U. of Neb and began working for the Broyhill
Company.
